Ebook About Author Kami Garcia and artist Gabriel Picolo, the creative duo behind the New York Times, USA Today, and Publishers Weekly bestseller Teen Titans: Raven, take you on a journey of self-discovery and acceptance, while reminding us the value of true friendship-especially when life gets wild.Garfield Logan has spent his entire life being overlooked. Even in a small town like Eden, Georgia, the 17-year-old with green streaks in his hair can’t find a way to stand out-and the clock is ticking. Senior year is almost over. If Gar doesn’t find a way to impress the social elite at Bull Creek High School, he will never know what it’s like to matter. Gar’s best friends, Stella and Tank, can’t understand why he cares what other people think, and they miss their funny, pizza-loving, video game-obsessed best friend. Then Gar accepts a wild dare out of the blue. It impresses the popular kids, and his social status soars. But other things are changing, too. Gar grows six inches overnight. His voice drops, and suddenly, he’s stronger and faster. He’s finally getting everything he wanted, but his newfound popularity comes at a price. Gar has to work harder to impress his new friends. The dares keep getting bigger, and the stakes keep getting higher. When Gar realizes the extent of his physical changes, he has to dig deep and face the truth about himself-and the people who truly matter-before his life spirals out of control.Book Teen Titans: Beast Boy Review :
I actually really enjoyed the art and story, my only qualm is around the end it feels soooo rushed and a few of the character interactions fell flat. Like one moment Beast Boy is still trying to be the cool kid, and the next page he’s having an important conversation with Slade and a page after that he’s transforming for the first time (slightly exaggerated obvi) but you get my point. I felt Kami took a bit too long building up the story so once we got to the final pages and nothing major had happened yet, it was clear she rushed to get to the climax. I’m not sure if they were restricted to a specific amount of pages but it would have been better imo if they added more so that the climax didn’t come so suddenly or if she took out some of the unnecessary dialogue and replace it with something pertaining to moving forward the climax. I also felt the development of beast boys friends fell flat when it came to finding out what happened to Tanaka, like this was a major issue for the friend and Gar just essentially ignores him? It just felt very out of character and when it was revealed what was happening to Tanaka everyone was just like “ok I don’t really care so let’s focus back on me because I’m the main character”. I still enjoyed it and felt if these specific issues had been touched on more it would have been an excellent origin story. "Teen Titans: Beast Boy" is not exactly what you'd expect from a superhero origin story, but I loved every single minute of it.I've read Teen Titans comics in the past and the best characterizations of Gar is when he has depth, not just a prankster and jokester. While I've read and enjoyed the creators' other graphic novel, "Teen Titans: Raven", I honestly believe that Gar got more characterization and love put into him than his future teammate. I'm glad that the author decided to discuss body image in boys, as that's rarely discussed in YA.You can tell that the writing style is meant for lower level readers, much like "Raven." It's very easy to understand and follow. I will probably always love Gabriel Picolo's art, as I've been following him for years and will continue to do so.A solid read for newbies and veterans of DC Comics.
